In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

The angels said, ‘Mary, God gives you news of a Word from Him, whose name will be the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, who will be held in honour in this world and the next, who will be one of those brought near to God. He will speak to people in his infancy and in his adulthood. He will be one of the righteous.’

She said, ‘My Lord, how can I have a son when no man has touched me?’ [The angel] said, ‘This is how God creates what He will: when He has ordained something, He only says, “Be”, and it is.

He [God] will teach him [Jesus] the Scripture and wisdom, the Torah and the Gospel, He will send him as a Messenger to the Children of Israel [saying]: “I have come to you with a sign from your Lord: I will make the shape of a bird for you out of clay, then breathe into it and, with God’s permission, it will become a real bird; I will heal the blind and the leper, and bring the dead back to life with God’s permission; I will tell you what you may eat and what you may store up in your houses. There truly is a sign for you in this, if you are believers. I have come to confirm the truth of the Torah which preceded me, and to make some things lawful to you which used to be forbidden. I have come to you with a sign from your Lord. Be mindful of God and obey me: God is my Lord and your Lord, so serve Him– this is a straight path.”’

— The Holy Qur’an 3:45-51

True knowledge & guidance only comes from the Ahl al-Bayt!

Ahmad b. Muhammad from al-Hasan b. `Ali [al-Washsha’] from Abu Ishaq Tha`laba from Abu Maryam. He said:

Abu Ja`far [Imam al-Baqir] عليه السلام said to Salama b. Kuhayl and al-Hakam b. `Utayba:

“Go east or west – you will not find correct knowledge except that which comes from us, the Ahl al-Bayt.”  (Basa’ir al-Darajat)

To the seeker of knowledge | a poem of al-Mutanabbi

image

Through much toil do you gain high distinction.
So he who seeks learning keeps awake during the night.
You strive after glory, but then you sleep at night?
He who seeks pearls immerses himself in the sea.
The height of (the builder’s) blocks depends on the height
of his aspirations; a man’s dignity rests on his nightly vigils.
Whoever desires elevation without fatigue
wastes his life in the quest for the absurd.
I have forsaken sleep at night to win Your satisfaction, O Lord of lords.
So let me attain the acquisition of knowledge
and let me reach the utmost degree of accomplishment.

Have you ever thought?

In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

When Our revelations are recited to them in all their clarity, the disbelievers say of the Truth that has reached them, ‘This is clearly sorcery,’ or they say, ‘He [Muhammad] has invented it himself.’ Say [Prophet], ‘If I have really invented it, there is nothing you can do to save me from God. He knows best what you say amongst yourselves about it; He is sufficient as a witness between me and you; He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.’ Say, ‘I am nothing new among God’s messengers. I do not know what will be done with me or you; I only follow what is revealed to me; I only warn plainly.’ Say [Prophet], ‘Have you thought: what if this Qur’an really is from God and you reject it?’

— The Holy Qur’an 46:7-10

Be a light for those in the darkness | Gospel of Thomas

image

His Disciples said to him,
“Take us to the place where you are,
since we are required to seek after it.”

He answered them,
“Whoever has an ear for this should listen carefully!
Light shines out from the center of a being [person] of light
and illuminates the whole cosmos.
Whoever fails to become light is a source of darkness.”

(Logion 24, the 24th saying attributed to Jesus, in the Gospel of Thomas)
